In this week’s episode, Michael talks with Dr. Brendan about change and uncertainty. Originally a Kiwi, Brendan is a psychiatrist from Australia that operates a mental health platform. Last year Brendan did his 200hr Yoga Teacher Training and took the leap to spend more of his time in Bali. Brendan recently started his own Podcast Show called ‘The Self You Seek’.
Michael and Brendan open up the conversation about ‘changing your mind’. Brendan shares that changing your mind is a very personal thing. They also touch upon the questions on ‘why we are changing the mind’, decision-making, commitment, and releasing the ego.
They speak about the topic of self-integrity and making a commitment to oneself to change, while highlighting that changing oneself is something we’re being tested with every day.
They speak about the ‘fear of change’, and what physically happens in your brain and nervous system. They also discuss ‘routines’ and the safety they provide, especially for kids.
Michael furthermore shares his own experience of change related to the nervous system, and explains how he’s become ‘more accepting of change’. The conversation finishes with the ‘recipes for change’.
